Paris, the city of love… and so much more!

One of my favourite places on Earth is Paris. It is one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever seen. I went there twice and I still have places I want to visit, because there are so many small things that should be seen.
Here are some of the things I believe you should visit when you go to Paris and some of the daily trips we took.

The Eiffel Tower

Firstly, you should see the Eiffel Tower at night. When I was in Paris the first time, I’ve seen it at night and it was beautifully lit. It practically highlighted the Tower. The second time I came to Paris, a few years later, I’ve seen the Tower in broad daylight and it didn’t have the same charm it had at night. Of course, the Eiffel Tower looks good in every moment of the day due to its impressive steel architecture, but the light fixtures make it really shine at night. And it really shines! Every night there is a shimmering light show, that lasts for 5 minutes. I really don’t know when it starts for sure, but I remember that it was like every hour until 1 A.M.
If you consider going to the top of the Eiffel Tower, be prepared for a long queue. But the view from the top is breathtaking. You can see almost every landmark, from the Sacre Coeur to the Louvre Museum, or from the Arc de Triomphe to the Notre Dame Cathedral. Going to the top floor is a must for everyone who goes to Paris!

The Louvre Museum

When we were there, we took a long and exhausting day trip to Paris, which included: The Louvre Museum, a walk near the Seine River towards the City Island, with a break for lunch in a small cafe, a stop on Pont des Arts, where you can lock a lock on the bridge’s railing, make a wish and throw the key into the river. After that, we walked towards the Notre Dame Cathedral, which we saw in the evening.
What I can tell you about this tour is that it is really long and exhausting. The Louvre Museum is huge and we waited at a long line until we entered. We also stayed in there approximately 4 or 5 hours, but we skipped some exhibitions which didn’t interest us. What I can tell you it’s that the Mona Lisa painting is one of the most crowded places in the museum, there is a whole crowd in front of the painting every moment.

Sacre Coeur

Another day we took the bus from Trocadero Square (which offers a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower) towards Sacre Coeur and then we walked towards the church. It is really impressive talking about its architecture and it’s a must see if you visit the city. From there we walked to the Moulin Rouge and then towards the Haussmann Lafayette Galleries. If you go to the rooftop of the Galleries, you can see a wonderful panorama of Paris and you can also admire the Opera, which is really close to the Galleries.

Des Catacombes de Paris

If you are a person who seeks adventure and who wants to see the unseen part of the city, I would recommend you to visit the Catacombs (Des Catacombes de Paris). The entrance is near the Saint-Jacques metro station. It is a really terrifying trip, as the walls of the catacombs are full of human remains, like skulls. In these catacombs are, approximately, 6 million human remains and the tunnels run almost everywhere beneath Paris.

La Defense

Another must see place is La Defense, the first european business district; the Latin Quarter, where you can see the Sorbonne University; the famous Avenue des Champs-Elysees with the Arc de Triomphe; a cruise on the Seine River, to see the beautiful bridges; a day trip to the Versailles Palace, which has an impressive garden.

Disneyland Paris

A place I would recommend from all my heart is the Disneyland Paris. This theme park is not only for children, it is made for everyone, of every age, to enjoy. A day spent there would make you feel like a child again!

All in all, Paris is one of the most beautiful places on Earth, because it offers so much. There are so many tourist attractions you can visit, you can go shopping in so many places or you can relax and have a coffee in one of the many cafes.
